John Cannavan studied art at Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, specialising in drawing and painting. Following many years of teaching art in Edinburgh he now devotes much of his time to painting. He has exhibited work in several Scottish galleries and has works in many private collections in the U.K. and abroad.
As the website name suggests, John’s work comprises Scottish themed landscapes, seascapes, animal and bird life. For over 40 years John has spent much of his time in Glenlivet in the Scottish Highlands, the inspiration for much of his work. He frequently visit the equally inspirational West Coast. Painting in oils is the only medium that John believes gives the richness and depth of colour, texture and vibrancy in his work. Painted on canvas, many works are already sympathetically framed.
This website gallery showcases a current selection of John’s work and will change as new work is added. The paintings can also be viewed in John’s Edinburgh studio, by arrangement.
